TAO3, active
N-terminal 6His-tagged recombinant, human TAO3 amino acids 1-411; N47S.
Biological information
Background
TAO3 is a serine/threonine protein kinase that activates the p38/MAPK14 stress-activated MAPK cascade but inhibits the basal activity of the MAPK8/JNK cascade. The encoded protein is a member of the GCK subfamily of STE20-like kinases. In response to DNA damage, TAO3 is involved in the G2/M transition DNA damage checkpoint by activating the p38/MAPK14 stress-activated MAPK cascade, probably by mediating phosphorylation of upstream MAP2K3 and MAP2K6 kinases.
