TSSK3, active
C-terminal 6His-tagged, recombinant, human TSSK3 full length, expressed by baculovirus in Sf21 insect cells. Purified using immobilized metal affinity chromatography followed by size exclusion chromatography.
Biological information
Background
TSSK3 (Testis-specific serine/threonine-protein kinase 3) is a serine/threonine protein kinase that is primarily expressed in the testis, where it plays a role in the regulation of spermatogenesis. TSSK3 has been shown to be involved in the regulation of sperm motility and morphology, and alterations in TSSK3 expression and activity have been linked to male infertility. Research has suggested that TSSK3 may also play a role in cancer. TSSK3 has been shown to be overexpressed in several types of cancer, including breast cancer and prostate cancer, and high levels of TSSK3 expression have been associated with poor prognosis. Additionally, TSSK3 has been suggested as a potential therapeutic target in cancer, and efforts to develop small-molecule inhibitors of the kinase are underway.
