TSSK4, active

N-terminal GST tagged and Cterminal 6His tagged, recombinant, human TSSK4 full length, expressed by baculovirus in Sf21 insect cells. Purified using immobilized metal affinity and size exclusion chromatography.

Biological information

Background
TSSK4 (Testis-specific serine/threonine-protein kinase 4) is a serine/threonine protein kinase that is primarily expressed in the testis, where it plays a role in the regulation of spermatogenesis. TSSK4 has been shown to be involved in the regulation of sperm motility and morphology, and alterations in TSSK4 expression and activity have been linked to male infertility. Research has suggested that TSSK4 may also play a role in cancer. TSSK4 has been shown to be overexpressed in several types of cancer, including breast cancer, and high levels of TSSK4 expression have been associated with poor prognosis. Additionally, TSSK4 has been suggested as a potential therapeutic target in cancer, and efforts to develop small-molecule inhibitors of the kinase are underway.
