Alk, active Human Recombinant Kinase Protein
N-terminal 6His-tagged recombinant, human ALK, amino acids 1058-end.
Biological information
Background
ALK or anaplastic lymphoma kinase (Ki-1) is a membrane-spanning tyrosine kinase receptor that is most closely related to leukocyte tyrosine kinase. No function has been ascribed for ALK; however, its restricted expression in neural tissue suggests that this receptor might play an important role in the normal development and function of the nervous system. Large-cell anaplastic lymphoma is a subtype of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Over half of these lymphomas have a chromosomal translocation t(2;5), that leads to the expression of a hybrid protein comprised of the nucleolar phosphoprotein nucleophosmin (NPM) and ALK.
