New molecules for the stabilization of membrane proteins
CALIXAR announces the publication of a new article from its joint research laboratory CHEM2STAB, in Biochimie, an international journal from the publisher Elsevier. This work highlights two non-ionic cholesterol-based additives for the stabilization of membrane proteins, conducted by chemists from Avignon University, biochemists from the Institut des Biomolécules Max Mousseron (IBMM), and CALIXAR.
We demonstrate that mixing conventional detergents with the cholesteryl hemisuccinate (CHS) and the cholesterol-based amphiphiles (Chol-Tris and Chol-DG) creates a beneficial environment for the retention of structure, dynamics, and function of several membrane proteins, including GPCRs (a part of the study was realized on the CALIXAR’s A2AR membrane protein).
CALIXAR’s Adenosine receptor A2AThese results support work on native membrane proteins because these targets are naturally unstable out of their initial complex environment. Non-ionic cholesterol-based will soon integrate the CALIXAR’s catalog of mild detergents for membrane proteins.
